Hi, my name is Alexandros and I’m currently a Senior Software Engineer at Google Research, Europe. This new research group within Google is based in the Zurich office and it is focused on three key areas: Machine Intelligence, Natural Language Processing & Understanding and Machine Perception. Specifically, since 2015 I’m working in the fields of Natural Language Generation and Dialogue, applying my work to products such as the Google Assistant. Before that I have performed a PhD Internship at Google in Seattle, WA, working on Computer Vision on Mobile Devices.
Previously, I was a post-doctoral researcher and teaching assistant at the Computer Technology Department of the University of Alicante, Spain, where my research focused on Human Behavior Understanding, Computer Vision and Assisted Living. I try to stay active in this field too, mainly through University Collaborations with my former PhD. Advisor Paco Florez-Revuelta. Recently, we have edited a book on Active and Assisted Living.
I hold BSc. and MSc. degrees in Computer Science obtained respectively in 2010 and 2011, and a PhD. degree with the highest distinction (cum laude) obtained in 2014 from the University of Alicante, Spain. During these studies, I have performed several internships in the industry and in academic institutions. In 2013, I was a visiting researcher in the Digital Information Research Centre in Kingston University, UK. In 2010, I was awarded a Microsoft EMEA Internship in the Business Division which was carried out in Redmond, WA. I also received the Award for Outstanding Graduate of the Year in 2010.
